Sex Workers

For sex workers accessing sexual health services in North Yorkshire  you can use the red umbrella card which will fast track your attendance in clinic. These cards are available at any of our clinics and within our services.

Your rights:

  • You have the right to feel safe and secure
  • We respect your right to privacy and confidentiality
  • If you access any of our services then you will be treated with dignity and respect
  • We will support you to report crimes against you or others

If you have been exposed to HIV within the past 72 hours, you can ask for PEP. PEP is a course of medication that can significantly reduce your risk of HIV infection. Click here to find out more about PEP. 

You have a right to be safe at work. If you have been sexually assaulted, click here to find out about the support on offer to you. You can also anonymously report dangerous individuals to National Ugly Mugs, who will then send out an alert to other sex workers in the local area. 

Crimes against sex workers have been adopted into the North Yorkshire Police official policy for tackling and dealing with hate crime.
