YorSexual Health offers intensive training blocks of approximately one week, to gain the CoSRH Letter of Competence (LoC) in Intrauterine Techniques and/or the CoSRH Letter of Competence (LoC)Β in Subdermal Contraceptive Implants.

This training will enable you to demonstrate the evidence-based knowledge, skills, and professional attitudes needed to effectively consult with women seeking contraception. You will develop the ability to safely provide and insert intrauterine and subdermal methods, as well as manage complications, side effects, and (for implants) removal.

We are pleased to offer training in LARC at our York, Harrogate, and Scarborough clinics.

Online Theory Assessment

Before starting your practical training, you must pass the Online Theory Assessment (OTA). You should allow up to 20 hours over 2–3 weeks to prepare for this.

The Online Theory Assessment (OTA) is an entry requirement for both the Letter of Competence Subdermal Implant Techniques Insertion and Removal (LoC SDI-IR) and Letter of Competence in Intrauterine Techniques (LoC IUT) qualifications.

The OTA checks that you have the essential knowledge needed to support your practical skills. It assesses your understanding and ability to make safe clinical decisions in contraception and general sexual and reproductive healthcare.

You can find out more information about the OTA here: Online Theory Assessment OTA (for LoCs only) | CoSRH

The OTA is charged per attempt, and candidates have 6 months to complete the assessment once they have registered.
